Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Horizon School Town Square is an inclusive, mainstream school that welcomes children with a range of additional needs. Our campus is fully accessible, and we offer tailored support—including one-to-one interventions and adapted learning pathways—to help every child thrive.
Our dedicated Inclusion team includes a School Counsellor and Occupational Therapist, with strong links to trusted external specialists. Children do not need an external diagnosis to access support, but we’re always happy to guide families seeking further assessment or therapy.
As Which School Advisor noted, our inclusion provision is “one of the most passionate we’ve come across”—a reflection of our commitment to nurturing every learner.
New Horizons Programme
As part of our inclusive approach, Horizon School Town Square offers the New Horizons programme—a daily life-skills class tailored for children with more complex SEN needs.
In a calm, small-group setting, children build friendships and confidence through practical activities such as cooking, visiting shops and restaurants, and developing communication and numeracy skills. Our PE team also supports sessions, helping children engage in physical activities that align with their year group’s curriculum.
New Horizons is designed to nurture independence, connection and joy—one step at a time.
Gifted and Talented
At Horizon School Town Square, our Gifted and Talented provision supports children with advanced abilities through personalised learning and enrichment. We tailor opportunities to each child’s interests, encouraging creativity, curiosity and critical thinking.
In class, learners are stretched through challenge tasks and extension activities, while outside the classroom, a range of enrichment programmes allows them to explore and grow beyond the curriculum.
Our aim is simple: to help every gifted learner thrive—academically, socially and emotionally.
English Language Learners (ELL)
We offer provisions for pupils with English as a Second Language (ESL), which will be discussed during the admissions process. Upon admission, English Language Learners will undergo the WIDA (World-class Instructional Design and Assessment) Online assessment with the Head of Inclusion. This evaluation helps determine their current level of English language proficiency and identifies the support they need to become confident and excel in both written and spoken English.
